
JACQUELINE S. SHELLOW, D.V.M., M.S.

Dr. Jacqueline Shellow has been with Teigland, Franklin and Brokken, DVM's, PA, since graduating from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Shellow attended Stephens College and then the University of Kentucky where she obtained a Masters Degree in Equine Nutrition. In 1994, she was certified in veterinary acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, and in 1998, certified in animal chiropractic by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
Dr. Shellow works the Gulfstream Racetrack meet during the winter months and travels monthly to NJ, DE and NY in the summer. She regularly attends the annual Keeneland September Yearling Sale where she does pre-purchase evaluations for our clients. Dr. Shellow's special areas of interest are acupuncture and chiropractic, as well as diagnosis and treatment of lameness and performance issues in the thoroughbred racehorse.
This year, Dr. Shellow is President-Elect of the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners where she also serves as a Board Member. She is a member of the Legislative Committee for the Florida Veterinary Medical Association. The FVMA recently named Dr. Shellow as a 2010 Gold Star Award winner for her work as liaison between the FVMA and the FAEP.
Dr. Shellow is also a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, and the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. She has been a teaching associate for the IVAS Veterinary Acupuncture Course since 2006 and is a member of the IVAS U.S. Education Committee, currently serving as Case Report Coordinator.
Outside of work, Dr. Shellow likes to travel and hike with her husband, Barry Faske. She is a runner and tri-athlete, and enjoys riding her horse. She is a Board Member of the Miami Forum and does volunteer work for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, and The StopALD Foundation.
