SARA LANGSAM,
V.M.D.
Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised on Long Island,
NY, Dr. Langsam was brought up in the thoroughbred
industry, visiting many racetracks around the
country and spending most weekends at either
Belmont, Aqueduct, or Saratoga rooting her family’s
horses across the wire. It was really no
stretch of the imagination when she decided to
become an equine veterinarian.
Dr. Langsam
received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell
University in 1998, majoring in Animal Science, and
in 2002, she graduated from the University of
Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine.
While in vet school, Dr. Langsam worked in the
Sports Medicine department at New Bolton Center,
assisting with both lameness and treadmill exams and
doing research involving upper airway conditions in
horses. Following graduation, she completed a
year long internship at Rood and Riddle Equine
Hospital, in Lexington, KY, gaining invaluable
experience working alongside many top specialists in
a high caseload setting.
Dr. Langsam
joined Teigland, Franklin, and Brokken, DVMs in July
of 2003 and divides her time between Delaware Park
during the spring, summer and fall and Gulfstream
Park during the winter. Her main interests are
in lameness evaluations, diagnostic imaging, upper
airway problems and pre-purchase exams. She
enjoys her annual trip to the Keeneland September
Thoroughbred Yearling Auction to do pre-purchase
evaluations for our clients.
When not working, Sara enjoys taking photographs,
traveling, spending time with family and friends,
and hanging out with her yellow lab, Bridget, and
two cats, Simon and Leo.
